Tiger: 9; Wolf: 4 and 8; Bear: 1 and 2; Jr. Webelos: 6 and 7; Sr. Webelos: 3 and 5

Attendance: Alan Johnson, Kelly Smith, Tammy Siva, Kelly Ives, Paralee Hendrickson, Steve Miller, Eric Stephen, Brian Bachmann and Linda Schock

Pack meeting:

Our theme is Music. We will have a CD player and CDs to sing along with. We'll play 4 different genres of music to complete one of the requirements for the Music belt loop. We will also encourage Scouts and parents to bring musical instruments for the display table. We would like a parent to sit at this table to keep the items there and not mishandled. Also, Scouts can bring a homemade instrument to play along when we sing.

Pack meeting will also include Scout awards, Pinewood Derby recognition/patches, cheers and a skit by Den 1.

Fifteen minutes before the Pack meeting, we will dedicate the tree we planted (pending the completion of the plaque.) All are invited to come a few minutes early to be at the dedication, then purchase some snacks before the Pack meeting.

Advancements: Please submit all Scout advancement and awards to Tammy Johnson by January 19 via email. Also send your Dens advancements to Linda Schock to be entered into the Pack records.

Treasurer: The Pack has a checking account balance of $2,000.00 and about $400 in the Council store account.
Staffing:

Pack will need a secretary as of March 1st. Also looking for coordinators for a few summer activities: Bike Hike, Bike Rodeo and Dragons tickets.

Training:

Tecumseh Council is holding these upcoming training events:

  • Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation, April 29, 8:30 AM, Camp Birch, more

Leaders are encouraged to attend training. Simply call/email if you would like to attend. The Pack pays all training registration fees and your materials and lunch are provided.

Other Business:

Church of the Brethren liason, Brian Bachmann, was at our meeting to express his plans to assist the Pack and Troop with whatever we need from the church and to facilitate communications between the groups and office.

Roundtable is January 12 at 7 PM at the Greene County Career Center.

Pinewood Derby is a highlight of the Pack 68 year. The committee will begin to setup the track at 4 PM, Friday, January 20 with weigh-ins and trial runs beginning at 6 PM. Hot dogs, chips, soda and baked goods will be sold in the kitchen Friday and any leftovers will be sold Saturday. Cars will be weighed, drilled and leaded until 5 ounces then left at the Scout House overnight. Races will be on Saturday, Jan. 21 beginning at 1 PM. We'll need 3 to 4 additional volunteers Friday afternoon/evening to help setup the track, weigh & drill the cars. On Race Day, we need four people to run the races; one at the starting line, one at the finish line, one to record each finish and one to enter the data.

Down & Derby DVDs will be available for sale Jan. 24. We will have a poster and sign up sheet at the Pack meeting to take orders for the $15 DVD.

Blue & Gold banquet scheduled for Feb. 24 at the Faith Community Church on Country Club Drive in Xenia. Setup will begin at 5 PM, arrival at 6 PM, dinner at 6:30 PM, program at 7 PM. After the awards program we plan to show the Down & Derby movie for those who want to stay and watch it.

Bering Expedition to be held Saturday, February 25, 12-4 PM, $5 per Scout, at Camp Birch Erwin Pavilion (beside the parking lot). Exciting winter event full of fun, winter challenges including the annual sled race! Hot chocolate, cookies and cold weather will be provided. Please to sign up. Archer Thomas is coordinating this event and he is looking for older scouts and adults to help run the program areas, just email him.

Feb. Pack meeting is February 28, at 7 PM and will include the cross over ceremony for our Sr. Webelos.

Den 4 is interested in moving their Den meetings to the 1st and 3rd Wednesday each month at the Scout House beginning April 1. Linda will check with CoB office for availability.
