What We Do
What's On 2008

List of Speakers

Just to give you an idea about our monthly meetings- they are held in Room 205 Devonshire House of the DRI ( map enclosed)

They start at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month.

If you enter the hospital at Gate C on Osmaston Road and tell the gateman you are attending a Take Heart meeting he will raise the barrier and let you through. Then just follow the road round until you reach Devonshire House and park right outside.

When you get inside there is a reception desk where you sign in.

Meetings start with general news items, followed by our speaker for the evening.

We try to choose speakers who will be of interest to all, but sometimes we have someone of a more medical nature, like Christine Chambers who had us in hysterics when we tried her fitness regime whilst sitting down or Julie Acred, Chief Executive of Derby Hospitals Trust, who was most informative.

The general talks have included Anne Smith JP on “Court in the Act”, Alan Upton with his “Daft ditties” and Primrose Wolstenholme on “Street Walking for Profit and Pleasure”.

More recently we have “150 years of a family Business”, on May 9th, Tracey Ralph from Cardiac rehabilitation on June 13th and Seaside Skeggy and Hand knitted bathing costumes on 8th August.

September 12th brings a talk about Acupuncture and Chinese medicines, then on 10th October we have “Derbyshire Oddities”

So, quite a mixed bag.
