Richard and myself saved for ages to have our first proper holiday together. We had been to Woolecombe and rented his parents caravan for a few weekends before this was arranged but we had never had a week long holiday together until this one.

We had our own car, an 'G' reg' burgundy Vauxhall Astra Belmont, which I loved (It died in January 2001 and was reborn to a 'K' reg' metallic grey Nissan Micra!), so we were able to drive through all the lovely country lanes and visit all sorts of places that week.

One of the attractions we visited that week was Arlington Court, which was an old National Home and was beautiful inside and full of museum like artifacts to gander over.
We also took drives and walks around to Woolecombe Bay, the National Trust owned; Grunta Beach, Ilfracombe Marina and the beautiful Lynton where we took a ride on the old cliff-top railway train.

We also went swimming at Rude Leisure Park in Croyde and were lucky to have the luxury of the whole pool and jacuzi to ourselves - Bliss! Anyway, here are some photos of us that week in our favourite restaurant in the whole world, The Emperors Court in Ilfracombe.

Richard with his starter, Chicken and Sweetcorn soup. I think this photo is such a great action shot!
Richard ogling the chicks!

Here Richard is ogling our favourite course, aromatic duck. I do believe in animal rights but I couldn't be a vegetarian if I tried! Duck is too nice!

The Main course!

A lovely picture of our main course that night! I highly recommend this restaurant and the menu 'D' for two. It should cost a couple 15.50 each and it is well worth it if you are celebrating a special occasion.
