Why Me?

On September 8th, 1831, a Grand Coronation Pageant celebrating the Coronation of King William IV and Queen Adelaide took place in the Devonport Dockyard region of Stoke Damerel. A booklet was published commemorating the event by John MUDGE, printer (who was my 4great-uncle by marriage). This booklet was found by and is being prepared for exhibit in the Devonport Dockyard Museum - along with a photograph of one of the ceremonial axes that were carried by the Shipwrights in the parade. You can see a little bit more about the axes on the "Why Me?" page of this website.

Michael supplied me with a set of web pages containing the whole booklet and has kindly consented to my putting this on the web. To see it in this format click here. The booklet lists many people who were involved in the parade and so may be of interest to genealogists from the perspective of identifying possible new relatives or the whereabouts of known relatives. Accordingly I have indexed it and present that index hyperlinked to the relevant pages here. If you find any errors or omissions please let me know at OPC@stokedamerelopc.org - thanks.
