How they met
Garak and Julian Bashir first met on Deep Space Nine, after Garak took asylum there, apparently on the run from the Cardassian authorities. Garak opened a clothing boutique, and became widely known as the station's finest tailor. However, many times, Garak's mysterious past has caught up with him, often creating tension in his and Bashir's friendship. A highlight for the two are their frequent breakfasts together on the station's Promenade.

How they met

Tom and Harry met in Quark's Bar shortly after Tom's arrival onto Deep Space Nine, before Voyager's ill-fated mission into the Badlands in pursuit of a Maquis ship. They formed an instant friendship, a bond that withstood the truths of Tom's betrayal of the Federation as a Maquis, and his lies of the past.

How they met

According to Caretaker, Chakotay and Tom met during Tom's brief stint as a member of the Maquis Resistance. Chakotay saw Tom as more of a mercenary who would do anything to help pay his bar tabs. When they met up again on the bridge of Voyager after the destruction of Chakotay's Maquis ship, deep hostility and bitterness between them was evident. There is much speculation about their past together, and their initial malice towards one another. Was it a case of a jilted lover coming face to face with the one who forsook him?
Who knows?
Their mutual animosity has slowly changed into a close friendship over the years, as trust has taken hold.
