Last day of skating today. :o( The exhibition was really good; the skaters were: Markus Leminen, Gustafsson/Grunland, Alisa Drei, Lucinda Ruh, Laurent Tobel, Tatiana Malinina, Lobacheva/Averbukh, Elvis Stojko, Petrova/Tikhonov, Julia Soldatova, Zagorska/Siudek, Michael Weiss, Bourne/Kraatz, Michelle Kwan, Anissina/Peizerat, Shen/Zhao, Evgeni Plushenko, Bereznaia/Sikharulidze, Krylova/Ovsiannikov, Maria Butyrskaya, and Alexei Yagudin.
Everyone did well, but most everyone didn't do anything more difficult than a 3toe or 3sal, although Tobel and Weiss both did nice 3lutzes and 3flips. The finale was excellent - all the ladies came out and spun, then all the pairs did death spirals. The men were hilarious; they wrapped arms and did funny looking spirals together. When the dancers came out and were skating around, Laurent Tobel and Elvis Stojko held hands and ran out to join them, trying to copy their steps. It was just hilarious! What goofballs. :o) At the end, there were fireworks and sparklers in the arena, and they had these awesome rubber 30-ft-tall "people" at one end of the rink, which were hooked up to air machines, and when air blew threw them, these huge things looked like they were dancing. I know you probably have no idea what I'm talking about, so I'll have to post a picture.
A great end to a fabulous week! I'll be sad to leave tomorrow. I'll be on the plane all day tomorrow, so I won't be updating this site again 'til Tuesday. This week I'll finish typing up all of my reports for the days that I didn't finish (which was most of them, I think). I also may put up a jump chart for the singles skaters, listing every single jump they attempted and/or landed in the free skate (I took good notes!). Thanks, everyone, for visiting my site and reading my reviews - I am so impressed with the thousands of visitors I've gotten. Keep coming back in April and May 'cause it'll take me a while to organize and scan my pictures!
